Dana is a recent graduate from the Business program at Mount Royal University. She is also a member of the internationally recognized Dance Studio Owners Association. She is fulfilling a lifelong dream of starting a dance studio as a platform to share her passion for lifelong learning and artistry. Dana has taught Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop and choreographed for 8 years in the Canmore and Calgary area. In this time, she assisted many of her students to achieve success and recognition at various dance competitions and conventions. She had the opportunity to train in Los Angeles on scholarship and also at Pineapple Dance Studios in London, England. She has spent time training at the Edge Performing Arts Center in L.A., as well as, Broadway Dance Center in New York. Locally, she has worked with a contemporary company O2 The Dance Company on a passion project: IM The Seasons of Love, featuring Ingrid Michaelson’s music. Dana is so excited to bring excitement, fun and challenge to the classroom, and share the joy of dance with her students.
Alexis began her dance training in Victoria, B.C. with Maureen Eastick before moving to Toronto to train at Canada’s National Ballet School. She enjoyed a dance career that lasted over a decade performing with: The Gaungzhou Ballet Company, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, The Banff Centre’s Festival Dance, and most recently as a soloist for Alberta Ballet. While dancing with Alberta Ballet Alexis guest taught at The School of Alberta Ballet and the International Ballet School. Alexis’ studetns maintain 100% pass rate in their RAD examinations and over 50% distinction rate. Alexis is also a certified yoga instructor and has a BA in Urban Studies. Since moving to the Bow Valley she has taught ballet to figure skaters, as well as created ‘Yoga/Ballet Fusion,’ a popular class at The Yoga Lounge. Alexis is thrilled to be on staff at Ignite Dance Studios Inc. and to be able to share her passion for ballet with The Bow Valley.
Lisbeth is a dancer, actor, performer, choreographer and teacher from Calgary. She’s been dancing since she was 3 and plans to continue long into the future. Lisbeth grew up dancing in Calgary, training primarily at McDonald Wilson Dance Academy, and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. After deciding she wanted to pursue dance professionally, she moved to Toronto to attend Dance School. Lisbeth graduated with Honors from the Commercial Dance Program at GBC and stayed to dance professionally in Toronto for a few years. Some highlights include dancing in TEDx, WEDay, various music videos, several festivals and in Cuba with the National Folklorico Company. Lisbeth has tapped her way across Canada, training with Tasha Lawson, Diane Montgomery, Lisa LaTouche and Danny Nielsen. She’s thrilled to be back out west dancing near the beautiful Rockies.
Hip Hop Instructor
Katherine Baquiran an influencer, choreographer and dancer. Katherine was born in Winnipeg, AB but has made a home out of Calgary, AB since she was 9. In the midst of self-discovery and curiosity, her cousin persuaded her to try classes and she was quickly drawn to the craft. At the age of 15, she began attending dance within the Calgary community where she ignited a passion. For the past 12 years, she has focused in Hip Hop dance and Urban Movement and has trained with elite teachers/choreographers all around the globe. She is also a leader for the Hiphop Team named UniverseSoul Dance Company which has competed at several National Hip hop Dance Competitions. Recently Placing 1st at Artist Emerge (Edmonton) and 3rd at World of Dance (Vancouver and Edmonton). In 2015, Katherine had the privilege to earn a spot to back up dance for Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable World Tour (Calgary). Katherine is excited to share her passion for dance and to contribute her work with Ignite Dance Studio.
Junior Jazz, Ballet & Tap Instructor
Starting from a young age of 2, Steph began dancing at Dance Magic Studio in Red Deer, AB. Steph honed her love of dance in the styles of tap, hip hop and contemporary and also studied jazz, lyrical and ballet. She has many performance experiences from various fundraisers and events around Red Deer including the 2006 Alberta Summer Games. Steph instructed tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary to kids as young as 3 up to adults at varying levels at Dance Magic and in the community at events such as Go Girls. She left the dance family to pursue Interior Design and now resides in Canmore. Leaving her Dance Magic was difficult, but she is very excited to join the IGNITE team. Adding a new chapter to her dance story has been amazing and she looks forward to continuing to help new little dreamers find their dance paths as she has found hers.
