Junior Jazz, Ballet & Tap Instructor
Starting from a young age of 2, Steph began dancing at Dance Magic Studio in Red Deer, AB. Steph honed her love of dance in the styles of tap, hip hop and contemporary and also studied jazz, lyrical and ballet. She has many performance experiences from various fundraisers and events around Red Deer including the 2006 Alberta Summer Games. Steph instructed tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary to kids as young as 3 up to adults at varying levels at Dance Magic and in the community at events such as Go Girls. She left the dance family to pursue Interior Design and now resides in Canmore. Leaving her Dance Magic was difficult, but she is very excited to join the IGNITE team. Adding a new chapter to her dance story has been amazing and she looks forward to continuing to help new little dreamers find their dance paths as she has found hers.
Danielle teaches Ballet, Stretch and Contemporary at Ignite and has been an ecstatic dancer for as long as she can remember. Her first formal dance class was in Jazz, which eventually led to a deep love of Modern Contemporary dance and Ballet. Prior to college she trained in ISTD Ballet and received her ISTD Teacher Training, along with certification in ISTD Modern Dance Theatre. She was encouraged by her teachers to audition for the Dance Program at Grant MacEwan College, which then accepted twenty five dancers from across Canada. Here she studied various traditional Ballet styles and the Contemporary dance styles of Jose Limon, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham before going on to receive her degree in dance. Her training included a deep dive into Choreography, Contact Improvisation, Music, and Dance for Film. She then went on to train in the apprenticeship program at DJD, and fell in love again with Jazz and the deep African Dance roots of Hip Hop and Funk. It was at this time that she discovered a passion for the richness of Hatha Yoga, and became a certified instructor in numerous styles of yoga including Ashtanga, Pre-Natal and Sivananda. All of her skills and passions have extended into her own creations of Movement Therapy programs. She has trained with Gabrielle Roth and other teachers in the 5Rhythms and similar embodiment practices. Dance has the incredible holistic ability to heal the mind, body and emotions while unlocking creativity in profound and unexpected ways. It is this healing, unlocking, and passion igniting power that has kept Danielle dancing and teaching — there is nothing quite like seeing the pure joy from watching the journey unfold in others. Danielle is also a Pilates Matwork instructor and has trained and taught in many places in Canada, the USA and Europe.

This year IGNITE is proud to offer a new “Dance Medicine Class” taught by our very own in-house dance physio, Dani West. In this class, Dani will be teaching various dance medicine topics such as anatomy, safe flexibility practices, self treatment techniques, dance conditioning and various other “dance physio hacks” that are hot topics in clinic. Dani’s ultimate goal is to give the dancers the tools they need to PREVENT any injury and promote safe and effective technique. From turn out training to flexibility programs, anatomy quizzes to taping techniques, Dani will guide the class through interactive learning; teaching key tools that they can use to supplement not only their dance training, but give them life skills that they need to take care of their bodies long term. These are topics Dani is adamant that ALL humans should know and is looking forward to passing these “physio hacks” onto young minds who can continue to practice them even beyond their dancing years. Dani hopes to inspire those who are keen to learn more about the human body and how they can easily- and effectively- maximize their dance training and reduce the risk of injury at the same time! Get more out of your dance training and come geek out with Dani in Dance Med!
